Essential CPD for health professionals

"AHPD offers practical advice on your professional obligations and crucial CPD on non-clinical topics which are all too often overlooked. Our aim is to reduce the risks you face as a health practitioner and to help you future-proof your career.”

Continuing Professional Development made by humans, for humans

This isn’t your usual CPD

This isn’t your usual CPD

AHPD's online education is vitally important for Australian health professionals and businesses. We  focus on non-clinical topics which can't afford to be ignored, but which often aren’t considered until it’s too late.

The regulations and norms which impact your responsibilities as a practitioner are ever-changing and ensuring that your practice remains up-to-date and compliant can seem overwhelming.  That’s why we exist. Our courses are designed to help you grapple with daunting topics and give you peace of mind on the safety of your career.

We value quality, rather than quantity, and the information we provide to you will always be relevant, and up to date, but just because a subject is serious doesn't mean it can't be entertaining. We want you to enjoy this training and we strive to keep it engaging, accessible, and even a little bit quirky.

...it's the CPD you didn't know you needed

Navigating the murky waters of health regulation

Access any course at your own pace - from any device - 24 hours a day. You can contact us directly with any query (but not at 3am - there's no AI assistant here).

Our first series of courses have been developed by David Gardner, a former AHPRA investigator and manager. He is now one of only a few lawyers focused on defending health practitioners in Australia, giving him a somewhat unique ability to unpack professional obligations from both a regulator’s and practitioner’s point of view.

He appreciates the challenges in dealing with the complex laws, rules and guidelines that apply to your work, and knows how devastating a notification to a regulator can be. These courses are designed to assist health professionals and businesses take proactive steps to avoid ever receiving a complaint or notification – but if a complaint is made, they also prepare you to deal with it as quickly and painlessly as possible.

"In talking to hundreds of practitioners during my time at AHPRA and as a lawyer, I found that I was often giving the same advice to people after complaints were made - after the damage was done. At AHPD, we want to give you that advice ahead of time, in the hope that you will never have to receive a complaint at all.”

Our latest feedback:

One of the best professional development courses I've ever done. I find David's approach to helping us deal with the regulator is kind, compassionate, measured and rational. I've never experienced having it explained in this way before now... I'm grateful that as health professionals he has our backs. Highly recommended.
-Social Media in Health
Fantastic course that really opened my eyes to the complexities of social media use as a health professional. The content was super relevant and up-to-date, with practical examples that showed just how easily we can stumble into professional issues online without realising it.
-Social Media in Health
In general very clear, easy to understand, seems to cover all the relevant AHPRA legislation.
- AHPRA's Advertising Guidelines
AHPRA proof your practice: This was bloody fantastic. Thank you so much to Mr Gardner for his extremely useful insights into good professional behaviour and managing complaints. I hope I never need him personally, but he had so many good pieces of advice.
