Meet our educators

David Gardner

Solicitor and former AHPRA investigator

David Gardner graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Laws and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia.

He initially commenced legal practice in commercial litigation, briefly juggled this with teaching at The University of Adelaide, then moved onto a role with AHPRA as an investigator. He was then promoted to a variety of positions including Senior Inspector for criminal prosecutions in NSW and manager of large investigative teams in SA and Victoria.

A growing concern for how practitioners were dealt with by AHPRA pushed David to returned to private practice in early 2019, and start his firm Gardner Legal & Regulatory, with the aim of assisting health practitioners to navigate the regulatory space.

Over a decade in health regulation and dealing with practitioners across Australia has led David to identify an absence in crucial non-clinical CPD topics. His focus is now on filling those gaps in the education available to practitioners, to remove the stress of the unknown and enable them to practice in the best way they can.

Why does David look familiar?

If you're lucky you may have heard him speak at a conference, or you might have caught one of his more gloomy appearances on the ABC.

David Gardner hasn't shied away from being rather vocal about AHPRA's shortcomings, if you're curious we've included a list of the articles and interviews he's featured in below.

Wendy McIntosh

RN GRAD DIP MH, MN PHD

Since establishing Davaar Consultancy Training & Development in 2005, Wendy has helped countless practitioners to improve their professional conduct and overcome hurdles in their careers.

Her skill in this comes from over 40 years as a health professional (clinical, education and research), with twenty-five of those years in mental health and 20 years as a psychodrama trainee – a lifelong learning.

Areas of specific interest and passion for Wendy include: professional
boundaries, professional supervision, professional identity, trauma informed approaches to care
and links between childhood trauma and boundary transgressions.

Regularly presenting workshops at national & International conferences, Wendy consistently receives feedback on her passion, knowledge and creativity as a presenter & facilitator.

Over the years she has journeyed with individuals and reflected on her own practice and the transgressions that she has experienced professionally. Having experienced her own painful realisations and the relief comes from the “ah ha that makes sense, now I understand" moments she is passionate about encouraging practitioners to always be curious and seek those “ah ha” moments.

Where have I heard Wendy speak?

You might have come across Wendy at a conference but she has also done a number of podcasts on boundaries with different organisations including the Nurses & Midwives Support Group and most recently Midwife Crises by Kelli Zakharoff.
